Calgary Family Services is contracted through Alberta Health Services to provide Homecare Services to clients who are eligible, based on an assessment completed by a Community Care Coordinator.

The City of Calgary is divided into "clusters," and Calgary Family Services is the Home Care service provider for the Downtown cluster and the far Northwest cluster of Calgary, as well as for Strathmore. If you live outside of these areas, another service provider will be assigned to provide your homecare services.

Through its contract with Alberta Health Services, Calgary Family Services provides over 200,000 hours of homecare services to over 500 clients every year. Homecare services that may be offered based on initial assessment needs may be:

  • assisting with tasks of daily living (dressing, grooming, bathing…etc)
  • assistance with medication(s)
  • performing restricted activities (medication delivery, urinary/bowel elimination activities, operation of a mechanical lift…etc)
  • companion care
  • light Homemaking.
  • These services may be provided seven days a week and are usually scheduled from early morning to late evening depending on client preferences, staff availability and service requirements. The Homecare Program operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and can be accessed using Calgary Family Services central number: 403.269.9888.

For more information regarding Homecare Services and your eligibility, please visit Alberta Health Services – Calgary and Area through the Alberta Health Services website or by phone at 403.943.1920.
