Elder Service Corps
"…Many of us are now realizing that it is time for us—individually and as a group of people entering the second half of our lives—to create a new vision of vital aging. A picture where we are growing whole, not just old. A picture where we are fully engaged in the good life of the community."
— Richard Leider & Larry Spears
Elder Service Corps members are older adults (65+) who want to use their skills and experiences to contribute to community well-being. The program combines opportunities for life-long learning and life-long service to create meaningful and lasting connections. We are looking for 12 older adults to join the first Corps, which begins in February 2012. Corps Members will participate in weekly group trainings, and be matched with a community site (a school or Community Association) for their service placement, where they will help design and implement a community project.
